Competition is a central component of U.S. Figure Skating’s development platform for skaters of all levels, whether they’re looking to advance in the qualifying pipeline or simply hone their skills. By engaging with peers in a competitive environment, skaters develop lifelong skills like resilience, competitive spirit and cooperation, which hold value both on the ice and off.

U.S. Figure Skating members have the ability to participate in three different competitive tracks:
Compete USA
Compete USA promotes a fun, introductory competition experience for skaters who are just beginning to compete. Events are open to all beginning skaters who are current members of a Learn to Skate USA program and/or are full members of U.S. Figure Skating.
Nonqualifying Competitions
Skaters interested in competing outside of qualifying competitions can find a variety of nonqualifying opportunities across the country, from local competitions to series and state games events.
Qualifying Competitions
There are four types of qualifying pipelines that lead to U.S. Championship events: singles, pairs and ice dance; synchronized skating; adult skating and collegiate skating.
