U.S. Figure Skating, and its affiliates and associates, (together “USFS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting users of the Website (as defined below) through our compliance with this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy describes the types of Personal Information, as defined below, we may collect from skaters, coaches, members, and site users (collectively, “you” and “your”) for business and marketing purposes, or that you may provide when you visit USFS owned Websites, including, but not limited to: usfigureskating.org, ufsaonline.org, usfsa.org, usfigureskatingdigital.com, learntoskateusa.com, and ltsportal.learntoskateusa.com (collectively, the “Website”).  The terms of this Privacy Policy are subject to change without notice.

1. WHAT CATEGORIES OF INFORMATION DOES USFS COLLECT? 

When you interact with us through the Website, we may collect Personal Information from you or from other sources. “Personal Information” refers to information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular individual, household, or device. Personal Information does not include information in the public domain, government records, de-identified or aggregated information, or information that you choose or agree to make public. Depending on the Websites you use, the Personal Information we collect may consist of (examples below are not exhaustive): 

  • Contact Information/Identifiers. 
  • A real name, alias, signature, postal address, phone number, unique personal credentials, and other similar contact data.  
  • When you create an account, we collect your name, email, mailing address, login, credentials, and membership information. When you submit a skating test, we record your name and results.  
  • Protected classification characteristics. Age, race, ethnicity, citizenship, veteran or military status, marital status, disability status, and sex (including gender, gender identity, or gender expression). 
  • Commercial information. 
  • Records of products or services purchased, obtained, or considered, or other purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies.  
  • When you purchase merchandise with our third-party providers, we receive information on which products you purchase. 
  • Usage. 
  • Such as programs, content, and features you access, browsing or search history, and the timing, frequency, and duration of your interactions through our Website 
  • Geolocation data. 
  • Physical location of users, generally and specifically. 
  • When you manually provide location information or enable your mobile device to send us precise location information.  

2. WHAT SOURCES DOES USFS OBTAIN PERSONAL INFORMATION FROM? 

In compliance with applicable law, USFS collects Personal Information from the following sources: 

  • Directly from you to USFS or submitted by users to USFS. We may collect Personal Information that you input into our Website. We collect Personal Information when your coach, your skating team, your LOC, or another party submits information to us. Examples of how this information is collected include:  
  • When you complete a form, register for a USFS profile, contact us, or sign up to receive alerts. 
  • Direct registration through USFS for Learn to Skate USA®, Aspire and individual membership. 
  • When you join USFS Membership through your LOC, they share your Personal Information with us to enable you to participate in our activities.  
  • Indirectly from you. For example, from observing user actions on the Website. 
  • Cookies. 
  • A "cookie" is an element of data the Website can send to your browser, which may then be stored on your system. Cookies are used to gather basic tracking information. You may refuse to accept browser or mobile cookies by activating the appropriate setting on your browser or smartphone. Certain parts of the Website may be affected by refusing cookies. Unless you have adjusted your settings so that your browser will refuse cookies, our Website will issue cookies when you direct your browser to our Website. 
  • Automatic Data Collection Technologies. 
  • An IP address is a number that is assigned to your computer when you are on the Internet. When you request pages from our Website, our servers log your IP address. 
  • We or third parties we work with automatically collect certain information using technologies such as web beacons, geo-fencing, pixel tags, search tracking, Internet tags, web server logs, and other data collection tools.  
  • We may track behaviors on social media pages that are owned or controlled by USFS.  

3. HOW DOES USFS USE PERSONAL INFORMATION?

  • Compliance. 
  • USFS complies with applicable laws, lawful requests, and legal processes, including but not limited to subpoenas, congressional committee requests, USOPC requests and U.S. Center for SafeSport requests. 
  • To Improve Website Functionality and User Experience. 
  • We use your Personal Information to provide Website functionality, fulfil user requests, improve the quality of the Website, engage in research and analysis relating to our Website, market the Website, provide customer support, allow for disaster recover, enhance the security of our Website, and comply with legal obligations. 
  • Provide Access to the USFS Website. 
  • Personal Information we collect, or you provide, is used to enable you to access and use the Website, process payments on the Website, and to send notices directly to you related to your USFS profile, membership, or other reasons. 
  • Marketing and Advertising. 
  • USFS may utilize third-party advertisement agencies and social media companies, or other vendors to assist USFS in the promotion of events, programs, merchandise and other USFS promotional events and also to display ads for the Website. These third-party companies may use cookies or other automated technologies to collect information about you over time and from your use of the Website. 
  • We may process information about how you use our Services to better identify usage trends and understand how they are being used so we can improve them. 
  • Personal Information. 
  • USFS only uses Personal Information to provide you with your requested products or services and to administer your USFS profile.

  • USFS may also use your Personal Information in any other manner as disclosed at the time of collection, or when USFS has otherwise obtained your consent. 
  • Sale of Personal Information. 
  • USFS is in the business of supporting athletes and providing the best skating experience possible. To provide those experiences, we collect and use your Personal Information to deliver our services and ensure safety. At no point in the past has USFS sold member Personal Information, and we have no plans in the future to begin selling member Personal Information.  

4. WITH WHOM DOES USFS SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION? 

  • Local Organizing Committees (LOCs), Clubs, and Programs.  
  • USFS may share your Personal Information with USFS LOCs, Clubs, and Programs for a variety of business purposes, operational purposes, and marketing purposes. 
  • Service providers.  
  • USFS sometimes engages or partners with other companies to perform certain services for USFS such as hosting, marketing assistance, website optimization, and other activities related to the management of our business services. When we disclose Personal Information for a business purpose, those service providers are subject to appropriate confidentiality and data protection agreements.  
  • Law enforcement and Congressional Requests, USOPC Requests, and U.S. Center for SafeSport Requests. 
  • We may disclose your Personal Information to comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request.  
  • Select Partners. 
  • We may disclose Personal Information to our partners with your consent, where consent is required by applicable law.  
  • Aggregate and De-Identified Data. 
  • We may share aggregate information with our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors, and other third parties. 
  • Vendors, Consultants, and Other Third-Party Service Providers. We may share your Personal Information with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work. 

5. WHAT ARE MY PERSONAL INFORMATION RIGHTS? 

Certain regulations provide specific rights to individuals regarding Personal Information. This section outlines the choices you may be able to make regarding your Personal Information: 

  • Opt-Out. 
  • You can choose not to share your Personal Information or receive promotional messages. This applies to both promotional emails and promotional mailings. For example, you will always have the option to opt-out of receiving promotional emails by choosing to select the unsubscribe instructions in the email. If you choose to opt-out of physical mailings, we will remove your name from any mailing lists after your request is received, but you may receive mailing still from us that had been initiated prior to your request being processed.  
  • If you do not want USFS to provide your Personal Information with unaffiliated or non-agent third parties for promotional purposes, you can opt-out by sending an email to privacy@usfigureskating.org.  
  • If you wish to opt-out of receiving promotional offers, you may send us an email stating your request to opt-out of marketing communications to privacy@usfigureskating.org. This opt-out does not apply to Personal Information you provide to USFS through purchases, warranties, or other transactions.  
  • Opt-out of Sales and Targeting Advertisers. 
  • As stated above, USFS is not in the business of selling Personal Information. We are here solely to help provide and facilitate an amazing skating experience for you, your family members, and friends.  
  • If we do in the future decide to sell your Personal Information or engage in targeted advertisements, you will be notified, as that is a material change to this published Privacy Policy, and you have the right to opt-out under Colorado law.  

6. HOW CAN I EXERCISE MY PERSONAL INFORMATION RIGHTS? 

  • To exercise your rights described above, please submit a verifiable request to us by email to privacy@usfigureskating.org with the subject line “Colorado Consumer Request”.  
  • To exercise your right to opt-out of sales and targeted advertisements, in addition to the methods mentioned above, you may submit a verifiable request to us by email to privacy@usfigureskating.org with the subject line “Colorado Consumer Opt-Out Request”.  
  • We strive to respond to each verifiable request within forty-five (45) days of receipt of your request.  If USFS does not respond to your request within forty-five (45) days of receipt of your request, the request is deemed denied.  
  • If we decline to act on your request, you may appeal such refusal by emailing USFS at privacy@usfigureskating.org.  

7. DOES U.S. FIGURE SKATING USE COOKIE TECHNOLOGY? 

A cookie is an element of data that a website can send to your browser, which may then store it on your system. The website makes use of cookies to permit the completion of the user's current activity on the website and for aggregate, non-personally identifiable analysis (for example we may track the number of times users visit a portion of the Website, but we do not track or know who those users are). We only use cookies to collect personally identifiable information with your consent, as described above under Personal Identification Information. 

Most browsers are set to accept cookies. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you do so, please note that some parts of the U.S. Figure Skating contents may not function properly. 

8. HOW DOES USFS PROTECT THE PRIVACY OF CHILDREN? 

We understand that young people need special safeguards and privacy protection. We realize that they may not understand all the provisions of our policy or be able to make thoughtful decisions about the choices that are made available to our adult users. We strongly urge all parents and guardians to participate in their children's exploration of the Internet and any online services, and to teach their children about protecting their personal information while online. 

We may, at our discretion, require users under 18 to obtain the consent of a parent or guardian to view certain content, and we may limit access to certain content to users above a specified age. You agree to abide by any such restrictions, and not to help anyone avoid these restrictions. 

We prohibit registration by children under the age of 13 for all interactive portions of the Websites including chats, message boards, and membership or account registration. If USFS learns that it has collected or received Personal Information from a child under the age of 13, without verification of parent or guardian consent, we will delete that Personal Information. If you believe we might have Personal Information from or about a child under the age of 13, please contact us by emailing privacy@usfigureskating.org.

9. LINKS TO THIRD-PARTY SITES 

Users may find advertising or other content on the Websites that link to third-party sites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties. We do not control the contents or links that appear on these sites. In addition, these sites or services, including their contents and links, may be constantly changing. These sites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service policies, or no policy (policies) at all. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites or services before providing any of them with your personal information.
