The spotlight is on Rochester, Michigan, as skaters from across the country take the ice for 2025 National Showcase, set for July 28-Aug. 2.
This competition brings together skaters at the preliminary through masters levels to compete in 14 categories. There are six singles categories – emotional performance, choreographic artistry, lyrical pop, character performance, comedic impressions and the theme event. In addition, there are three group categories – duet/trio, mini production ensemble and production ensemble – as well as an open inflatable event. Adaptive athletes can compete in individual, Unified partner and duet/trio showcases as well as a production ensemble event.
Top finishers from the six singles events and the duet/trio event will advance to compete in one of the six Parade of Champions on Saturday, Aug. 2: senior, junior, adult, founders (for skaters at the preliminary, pre-juvenile and juvenile levels), duet/trio and the theme event.
In honor of this year’s competition taking place near Detroit, skaters will perform to the music of Motown in the theme event.
This year’s event will be hosted by the Harmony Theatre Company of Michigan, marking the third time the competition has taken place in the Great Lakes State.
Blending skating and theatricality, showcase brings stories and characters to life on the ice through the creative use of costumes and props. To learn more about showcase and how to get involved, visit the showcase page on the U.S. Figure Skating website.
