U.S. Figure Skating announced today the location for the 2021 Nations’ Cup and Adult Gold Cup, an international Theatre On Ice (TOI) competition held bi-annually.
The Skating Club of Boston will host the 2021 Nations’ Cup and Adult Gold Cup, held April 19-24, 2021, at the new Skating Club of Boston facility in Norwood, Massachusetts. This is Boston’s first time hosting the event and the third time the event will be held in the United States. It was previously held in Hyannis, Massachusetts, in 2011, and Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 2017.
Nations’ Cup was first held in in Tolouse, France, in April 2010. Teams are selected to participate by their respective nation’s governing body, with American teams being selected by the U.S. Figure Skating Theatrical Skating Committee.
Theatre On Ice is a form of competitive figure skating that combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theater and dance. Teams consist of between eight and 24 skaters. The programs are judged by U.S. Figure Skating judges and are evaluated on technical merit and presentation with emphasis on originality, costuming, artistry and musicality.
