Two U.S. teams are headed to the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships 2022, set to take place March 17-19 in Innsbruck, Austria. The short program will take place at 12 p.m. ET on Friday, March 18, and competition will conclude with the free skate on Saturday, March 19 at 9:30 a.m. ET. Skyliners junior and Teams Elite will represent Team USA in Austria. Both teams were also named to the U.S. World Junior Synchronized Skating Team in 2020 but were unable to compete due to the pandemic.
Skyliners junior, who recently earned the bronze medal at the 2022 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships, look to return to the podium for the third time after winning a silver medal at the 2018 event and bronze in 2019. From the Skating Club of New York, the six-time U.S. junior champions hope to continue their international success this season after winning the gold medal at Mozart Cup this February.
Teams Elite will make their World Junior Championships debut in Austria. The Illinois-based team claimed the silver medal at the 2022 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships. They also found international success this season, winning the gold medal at French Cup and bronze at Hevelius Cup to finish the season ranked second in the Challenger Series Synchronized Skating standings.
