U.S. International Classic

In the ladies field, Courtney Hicks will make her fall debut. The Chino Hills, California-native won gold at the 2013 U.S. International Classic and silver at the event in 2014. Brynne McIsaac and Akari Nakahara will join Hicks in Salt Lake City, both making their senior international debuts.

In the men’s field, 2018 U.S. Olympic Team member Vincent Zhou will make his season debut. Zhou, who finished sixth in the men’s event at the 2018 Olympic Games, has never skated at this event. Jimmy Ma will also take the ice in Salt Lake City. He finished 11th at the 2018 U.S. Championships.

Three pairs teams will represent the United States at the U.S. International Classic. Ashley Cain and Timothy LeDuc ended the 2017-18 season on a high-note, taking pewter at the U.S. Championships and silver at the Four Continents Championships. Audrey Lu and Misha Mitrofanov will make their senior international debut this week. The 2018 U.S. junior champions finished fifth at the World Junior Championships last season. Rounding out the pairs contingent is Winter Deardorff and Max Settlage. The duo will be making their international debut after beginning their partnership in early 2017.

Reigning U.S. champions and 2018 U.S. Olympic Team members Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue are among the three ice dance teams representing Team USA in Salt Lake City. The duo finished fourth at the 2018 Olympic Games and took silver at the 2018 World Championships. Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko will make their senior international debut after a stellar 2017-18 campaign which included the U.S. junior title and second place at the Junior Grand Prix Final and World Junior Championships. Karina Manta and Joe Johnson, who finished ninth at U.S. Championships, will also represent the United States in Salt Lake City.

The event will start with the men’s and pairs short programs on Thursday, Sept. 13. On Friday, Sept. 14, the ice dance and ladies competition will begin along with the conclusion of the men's and pairs competition. The competition will conclude on Saturday, Sept. 15 with the free dance and the ladies free skate. Official practices will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 12 for men’s and pairs, and on Thursday, Sept. 13 for ladies and ice dance.

Lombardia Trophy

Amber Glenn will represent the United States in the ladies event. Glenn competed in the Philadelphia Summer International this summer and placed fifth in the competition. Last season, she finished eighth at the Lombardia Trophy.

In the men’s competition, Timothy Dolensky will compete in his first Challenger Series of the season. He won the bronze medal at the 2018 Philadelphia Summer International, following up his gold medal performance at the event last year.

Nica Digerness and Danny Neudecker will make their international debut at the senior level in Italy. The duo was crowned the U.S. pairs champions at the junior level in 2017 and finished 11th in the senior competition in 2018.

The ice dance team of Rachel and Michael Parsons will look to capture their second medal on the Challenger Series circuit. The sibling duo won the silver medal at the Asian Open in August. They also secured the silver medal at the Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships in July.

The men’s and ladies short program start on Thursday, while ice dance and pairs begin on Friday.

JGP Canada

Gabrielle Izzo will make her JGP debut in Canada. Izzo took home the silver medal in the junior competition at the Asian Open this season and placed fourth at the Challenge Cup in February.

In the men’s competition, Tomoki Hiwatashi and Peter Liu will both make their season debut. Hiwatashi finished seventh at the World Junior Championships last season and earned two bronze medals on the 2017-18 JGP tour. Liu finished ninth in the junior division at the U.S. Championships last season.

Sarah Feng and TJ Nyman will also open their season in Canada. The pair took home the silver medal in the junior competition at the 2018 U.S. Championships and finished eighth at the ISU World Junior Championships last season.

The United States will send two couples to compete in the ice dance competition. Eliana Gropman and Ian Somerville will look to add to their medal collection after securing the bronze medal at the JGP event in Bratislava this August. Emma Gunter and Caleb Wein were crowned the junior champions at the Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships in July. They also finished sixth in junior ice dance at the 2018 U.S. Championships.

The ladies and men’s short programs, and the rhythm dance will start Thursday and the pairs competition will get underway on Friday.

Entering its 22nd season, the JGP Series consists of seven international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Each athlete is eligible to score points in two of the seven scheduled events (pairs can compete in two of four designated events). The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, Dec. 6-9 in Vancouver. The ISU will stream the event live on its YouTube page.
