Tennell, who was 11th with 64.01 points after Wednesday’s short program, put together a solid skate to earn 128.34 points in her free skate, clinching ninth place. She earned 192.35 total points.
“Today was OK,” Tennell said. “Obviously it wasn’t the way I wanted to skate. It wasn’t that perfect Olympic program, but I’m really happy for getting out there and holding myself together. I’m pretty hungry and really tired, but I’m proud of myself.”
Mirai Nagasu also grabbed a top ten finish after scoring 119.61 points Friday for a competition total of 186.54 and 10th place. Karen Chen finished 11th with 185.65 overall points. She scored 119.75 points on Friday morning.
The U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team ended the 2018 Olympic Winter Games with a bronze medal in the team event and a bronze medal from Maia and Alex Shibutani in the ice dance competition. Though competition has concluded, the Shibutanis and Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue will skate in the Exhibition Gala scheduled for Sunday at 9:30 a.m. (Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET).
