(1/12/20) – Team USA earned five medals at Britannia Cup 2020 in Nottingham, Great Britain. U.S. senior teams claimed the top two spots while the three junior teams swept the podium.
The Haydenettes won both segments in Nottingham, earning the gold medal with a total score of 206.66. Their short program to "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" by Celine Dion earned 71.57 points and two Level 4 elements. In their ‘80s-themed free skate, the Massachusetts-based team earned 135.09 points with six Level 4 elements. Their free skate and total score marked season’s bests for the 2019 U.S. champions who also claimed the silver medal at California Cup in November.
Also claiming a spot on the podium in the senior competition, Adrian College won the silver medal with a total score of 171.90 points. The bulldogs scored 52.67 points for their short program to "Let Me Think About It" by Ida Corr. Their “four seasons” themed free skate scored 119.23 points to lift the team to their first international medal since securing silver at 2018 Trophy D’Ecosse.
In the junior competition, the Skyliners claimed the top spot, winning gold with 176.15 points. Fresh off their silver medal at California Cup in November, the New York-based team won the short program with a season-high 63. 87 points. They skated to “Memories” from Cats, earning a Level 4 mark for their traveling wheel, twizzle element and no-hold element. The 2019 World bronze medalists finished second in the free skate to music from Moulin Rouge, earning 112.28 points for the program.
Earning the silver medal in Great Britain, the Starlights notched 168.77 points en route to the podium. Skating to two Cinderella-themed programs, the Chicago-based team earned 55.51 points and finished second in the short program. Their free skate received three Level 4 marks to collect 113.26 points and win the segment.
Rounding out the podium, DC EDGE earned the bronze medal in their international debut. The team finished third in the short program and free skate, scoring 51.52 and 99.37 points, respectively. With their short program to "I Want to Hold Your Hand" from Glee and their “Conductor and Her Orchestra” themed free skate, the new team earned the award for the most enjoyable performances of the competition.
