SIXTEEN ATHLETES TO COMPETE IN TWO INTERNATIONAL EVENTS THIS WEEK

Sixteen Americans will compete in two Challenger Series events this week. The Ondrej Nepela Trophy and Autumn Classic International will kick off on Thursday in Bratislava, Slovakia and in Oakville, Ontario, respectively.

Autumn Classic International
Reigning U.S. champion Bradie Tennell headlines the American contingent headed to Oakville. Tennell, who won the U.S. title and a bronze medal in the Olympic Team Event in 2018, will be joined by Starr Andrews, who will compete in her second Challenger Series event of the season (Asian Open, 5th). Andrews finished sixth at the 2018 U.S. Championships.

Jason Brown, 2015 U.S. champion and 2014 Olympic Team Event bronze medalist, will also make his season-debut. Brown, who now trains in nearby Toronto, won the bronze medal at the 2018 Four Continents Championships.

In the pairs field, Haven Denney and Brandon Frazier will make their season debut. Denney and Frazier, who won the U.S. title in 2017, moved back to Florida prior to the start of the season. Jessica Calalang and Brian Johnson will make their international debut as partners at the event.

Ondrej Nepela Trophy
Ashley Cain and Timothy LeDuc will take the ice once again in Slovakia after winning the gold medal at the U.S. International Classic last week in Salt Lake City. Deanna Stellato and Nathan Bartholomay will make their season debut after a third-place finish at the 2018 U.S. Championships.

In the ladies field, Megan Wessenberg will take the ice looking to gain some momentum prior to her Grand Prix debut at Skate America in October. She will be joined by Katie McBeath, who won the Philadelphia Summer International in August.

Sean Rabbitt will compete in the men’s field, making his season debut. He finished 14th at the 2018 U.S. Championships.

Lorraine McNamara and Quinn Carpenter will embark on their second senior international fall season. The duo won the Lake Placid Ice Dance International earlier this season. They also picked up a silver medal at Warsaw Cup in 2017.
