The event starts on Thursday, Oct. 11, with the men’s and ladies short programs. The rhythm dance and ladies free skate will take place on Friday, Oct. 12. Competition will conclude with the men’s free skate and free dance on Saturday, Oct. 13.
In the ladies competition, Hanna Harrell will skate in her first JGP series event of the season. Harrell claimed the silver medal at the Egna Spring Trophy last season and won the pewter medal at the junior level at the 2018 U.S. Championships.
Ryan Dunk and Nicholas Hsieh will represent the United States in the men’s field. Like Harrell, Dunk captured the junior pewter medal at the U.S. Championships. He also finished sixth at the JGP event in Slovakia earlier this season. Hsieh is making his first JGP appearance of the season after winning the bronze medal in the junior competition at the Asian Open this summer.
The United States will send two teams to skate in the ice dance competition. The brother-sister duo of Oona and Gage Brown will compete in their second JGP of the season after finishing ninth in their international debut at JGP Lithuania. Emma Gunter and Caleb Wein will look to build off their seventh-place finish at JGP Canada. The couple were crowned junior champions at the Lake Placid Ice Dance Competition earlier this year.
In its 22nd season, the JGP Series consists of seven international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Each athlete is eligible to score points in two of the seven scheduled events (pairs can compete in two of four designated events). The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, Dec. 6-9 in Vancouver. The ISU will stream the event live on its YouTube page.
