McNamara and Carpenter earned 176.66 points overall to secure their podium finish. In Saturday’s free dance, the duo earned 105.26 points behind a performance which featured positive Grades of Execution and three Level 4 lifts.
The United States’ Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko notched a fifth-place finish. The duo scored 100.35 points on Saturday, totaling 167.28 points for the competition.
Russia’s Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin won the title with 200.09 total points, while Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri of Italy took silver with 196.29 total points.
In the pairs competition, Deanna Stellato and Nathan Bartholomay finished sixth overall with 159.21 total points. The duo scored 102.77 points in Saturday’s free skate.
Russia’s Natalia Zabiiako and Alexander Enbert took the gold medal (198.51 total points), followed by Nicole Della Monica and Matteo Guarise of Italy (185.77) and Daria Pavliuchenko and Denis Khodykin of Russia (185.61).
Angela Wang placed 11th overall with 149.57 total points. She earned 95.81 points in her free skate, set to “Send in the Clowns.”
Reigning Olympic champion Alina Zagitova of Russia won the event (215.29), fellow Russian Stanislava Konstantinova finished second (197.57) and Kaori Sakamoto of Japan placed third (197.42).
In the men’s competition, Alex Krasnozhon is eighth after a solid, 74.05-point short program. He landed all four jumps, including a triple flip-triple loop combination, and closed with a Level 4 spin.
Competition concludes Sunday with the men’s free skate.
