HUBBELL AND DONOHUE WIN 2018 U.S. ICE DANCE TITLE

Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue (Lansing SC) secured their first U.S. ice dance title Sunday afternoon at the 2018 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships in San Jose, California.

A total of 0.52 separated the top three teams.

Hubbell and Donohue finished second in both the short dance and free dance en route to an overall score of 197.12 points. They entered the event having finished as U.S. bronze medalists four times since becoming a team in 2011, including the last three seasons.

Two-time defending U.S. champions Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani (SC of New York) earned 196.93 points at the event. They won the short dance and placed third in the free dance for the silver medal overall.

With the top free dance score of the day, Madison Chock (All Year FSC) and Evan Bates (Ann Arbor FSC) collected the bronze medal with a score of 196.60 points.

The ice dance nominations to the U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team will be announced Sunday, January 7, at approximately 8:55 p.m. ET.
