U.S. Figure Skating and HomeLight will debut its “Scoring Insights” features this week during NBCU’s coverage of 2019 Skate America presented by American Cruise Lines.

The Scoring Insights, hosted by Olympic Silver medalist and NBC commentator Tanith White, are educational segments aimed at helping fans better understand the many nuances of the sport’s scoring system. HomeLight, U.S. Figure Skating, and NBCU’s figure skating team joined forces to produce the series, which will include 5 to 7 different segments released throughout the season.

“We’re thrilled to expand the ‘HomeLight Scoring Insight’ feature - and welcome Tanith - to bring more appreciation to an athlete’s performance and the criteria that go into the judges’ score,” said John Van Slyke, HomeLight’s Vice President of Marketing. “It’s been exciting to explore the factors that make up a perfect routine with the same data-backed approach HomeLight takes to deliver the best results in real estate.”

In addition to helping to educate viewers through the series of Scoring Insights, HomeLight will once again power the live scoring bug in the upper left-hand corner of telecasts across NBCU’s coverage of US-based figure skating events this season. As a skater moves through their program, the dynamic graphic reflects the up-to-the-minute technical score, tracking it against the current leader and highlighting upcoming elements and those that may be under review by the judges.

”Regardless if you are a long-time fan of the sport, or a casual viewer, these Scoring Insights will provide a great educational opportunity,” said U.S. Figure Skating Chief Marketing Officer Ramsey Baker. “We are thankful to have a partner like HomeLight who is committed to bringing their focus on data and analytics to our partnership, enhancing the fan experience just as they enhance the home buying and selling experience for their customers.”

In addition to the on-air features and data driven on-screen scoring graphics, the partnership, announced in late July, will also include a robust television media package throughout the 2019-20 figure skating season, the presence of HomeLight branding on official Team USA figure skating apparel, and opportunities for HomeLight and top agents in the country to connect with U.S. Figure Skating members.
