This weekend’s 2020 U.S. Figure Skating Governing Council Annual Meeting will be conducted for the first time ever via video conference, with the primary business meeting set for Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.

The GC meeting was originally scheduled for April 29–May 2 in Las Vegas, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it became necessary to change the dates and conduct the meeting virtually to ensure the safety of delegates and staff.

Things kick off on Friday night with the sectional caucuses. The Eastern caucus starts at 7 ET, the Midwestern caucus begins at 8:30 ET, while the Pacific Coast caucus gets underway at 7 PT.

On Saturday, a candidates forum for treasurer on the U.S. Figure Skating Board of Directors will be held at 1 p.m. ET. Nominating committee candidate Lisa Hernand and current treasurer Troy Goldstein will field questions submitted previously through the GC website.

The business meeting will follow, led by U.S. Figure Skating President Anne Cammett and assisted by parliamentarian Dr. Leonard Young.

A limited number of staff members, exercising social distancing, will be on hand at U.S. Figure Skating headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to answer questions and assist delegates during the meeting.

An online voting system hosted by an outside firm will be used.

The names of a distinguished group of officials celebrating 50 years of service will be announced at the meeting. Robert Boroughs, Donna Cerami, Shirley Holdsworth, Jane Reno, Gale Tanger and Mary Knake (60 years) will be formally recognized at the 2021 Governing Council Meeting in Colorado Springs, as U.S. Figure Skating celebrates its 100-year anniversary.
