Starr Andrews, who impressed the crowd with a sixth place finish at the 2018 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships in San Jose, makes her first appearance at a senior-level ISU championship event. She’ll be joined by Mariah Bell and Angela Wang, who finished fifth and seventh at the 2018 U.S. Championships, respectively.
In the men’s field, Jason Brown, who is the first alternate for the U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team, will take the ice after finishing sixth at the U.S. Championships. Grant Hochstein and Max Aaron will also represent the United States after Top-10 finishes in San Jose.
Three American pairs teams will compete at Four Continents. Ashley Cain and Timothy LeDuc will compete in their second consecutive Four Continents. The pair finished fourth at the U.S. Championships earlier this month. Tarah Kayne and Danny O’Shea, who are the first alternates for the U.S. Olympic Team, won the silver medal in San Jose. Deanna Stellato and Nathan Bartholomay, who took home bronze from U.S. Championships, will also compete at the event.
In the ice dance field, three American duos will take the ice. Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker will look to follow up on their U.S. pewter medal in San Jose with a medal in Taipei City. The pair finished fifth at Four Continents in 2015. Lorraine McNamara and Quinn Carpenter and Rachel and Michael Parsons, both in their first senior seasons, will also compete after finishing sixth and fifth, respectively, at the U.S. Championships.
Now in its 20th year, the Four Continents Championships are sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU) and feature skaters from the Americas, Asia, Africa and Oceania.
