The event, which returned to San Jose for the first time since 2012, attracted 107,318 attendees. The junior-level free skates, the championship-level events and the Smucker’s Skating Spectacular, held Jan. 2-7 at SAP Center, were highlighted by a crowd of 10,321 who watched a memorable ladies free skate event on Friday, Jan. 5. In addition, 9,531 were in attendance to witness Nathan Chen win his second straight U.S. title on Saturday, Jan. 6.
“On behalf of U.S. Figure Skating and the athletes, coaches and officials, I want to thank the City of San Jose, Solar4America Ice and the SAP Center for being such gracious hosts,” said David Raith, executive director, U.S. Figure Skating. “We hope that those who attended the 2018 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships had a fantastic experience and are excited to cheer on the United States next month during the Olympic Games.”
