Adults Compete at 2020 Winter World Masters Games

Thirty-eight Americans are set to compete in the figure skating events at the Winter World Masters Games 2020 in Innsbruck, Austria, from Jan. 13-19, 2020. Sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU), the figure skating competition will feature competitors representing 31 nations.

(1/10/20) - Thirty-eight Americans are set to compete in the figure skating events at the Winter World Masters Games 2020 in Innsbruck, Austria, from Jan. 13-19, 2020. Sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU), the figure skating competition will feature competitors representing 31 nations. The competition will be held in the historic Olympic Hall at OlympiaWorld Innsbruck, which hosted the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympic Games. In total, more than 3,000 athletes are scheduled to compete in 12 sports over the course of the event.

For the figure skating events, skaters (who must have reached the age of 28 by June 30, 2019, to be eligible to compete) will vie for titles in free skating, artistic free skating, pairs free skating, pairs artistic free skating, ice dance (pattern dance, rhythm dance and free dance) and synchronized skating. 

“It’s an exciting time to be an adult figure skater, and competitive opportunities continue to grow both domestically and internationally,” said Aviva Cantor, chair of the U.S. Figure Skating adult skating committee. “These competitors have worked very hard for this event. We wish them good luck in the pursuit of their goals.”

Competitors from the United States include U.S. masters intermediate-novice men’s champion Eric Bilardi and the U.S. masters pairs champions Judy Mata and Vladimir Levchenkov.
