The remaining six regional championships take place during the following two weeks.
More than 1,900 skaters in two disciplines (ladies and men) will compete in five levels (juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior, senior) at the nine regional championships. The top four skaters in each discipline qualify for one of three U.S. Sectional Figure Skating Championships (Eastern, Midwestern, Pacific Coast), which will be held Nov. 13-17, 2018. The pairs and ice dance disciplines begin the qualifying season at sectionals.
The top four finishers at the sectional championships earn a berth to the 2019 U.S. Figure Skating Championships set for Jan. 19-27, 2019, in Detroit. The 2019 U.S. Championships are the final qualifying event before U.S. Figure Skating selects the 2019 World, World Junior and Four Continents Teams at the conclusion of the event.
