The 2019 U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships, hosted by Ice Works Skating Club, will be held July 28-30 in Aston, Pennsylvania, in conjunction with the 2019 Philadelphia Summer Figure Skating Championships. Nearly 60 competitors will compete for titles in ladies and men’s at the novice, junior and senior levels.
The U.S. Collegiate Championships are held every summer and is the only figure skating event in the country open solely to high-level, full-time college students. To qualify, a skater must be a current U.S. Figure Skating member and 1.) a high school graduate who is enrolled full time in a college or university degree program, 2.) a recent graduate of an accredited institution or 3.) entering a college or university as a first-year student for the upcoming semester.
The Collegiate Championship Award Program, started from the Pioneer Fund, is given out annually based on the results at the U.S. Collegiate Championships. The program was developed to award the champions a one-time monetary scholarship. The awards are distributed annually following the winners’ successful completion of their full-time fall term/semester.
Past U.S. collegiate champions include Mirai Nagasu, the 2008 U.S. champion, and Alissa Czisny and Ryan Bradley, who are the 2011 U.S. champions.
