NQS Highlights: Weeks 11 and 12

Three competitions were held across the country in the final two weeks of the National Qualifying Series, giving skaters opportunities to qualify for the Sectional and U.S. Finals.

Qualification for the Sectional and U.S. Finals wrapped up as the final three NQS competitions were held across the country from Sept. 15-25.

The following competitions took place in the last two weeks:

Highlights from the last three competitions include:

  • Alex Fang impressed the judges with his free skate, which was full of expression, at the 43rd Annual Pasadena Open. As a result, he earned silver in the juvenile boys event.
  • Delivering a confident performance to “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend,” senior skater Brynn Roberts engaged both the audience and judging panel at the 2022 Austin Autumn Classic.
  • At the 2022 Austin Autumn Classic, Hannah Tsao wowed with her interpretation of a tango in the intermediate women’s event. She was fully committed to the performance, embodying the spirit of the music in order to hit every beat.
  • At Challenge Cup, Melania Blecic earned a personal best score of 46.05 in the women’s novice short program. She looks forward to competing at the 2023 Eastern Sectional Singles Final with the goal to score over 140 combined and land her triple Lutz in competition.

With NQS now complete for the 2022-23 season, athletes who have qualified advance to the 2023 Eastern, Midwestern and Pacific Sectional Singles Final, the U.S. Pairs Final and the U.S. Ice Dance Final.
