May's SKATING looks back at the 1960s

In the May issue of SKATING magazine, we look back at those skaters and moments which made the 1960s memorable.

U.S. Figure Skating is celebrating its centennial anniversary in 2021. In the May issue of SKATING magazine, we look back at those skaters and moments which made the 1960s memorable. The tragic plane crash in 1961 of the World Team devastated U.S. skating for several years before a group led by Peggy Fleming and Tim Wood helped it rebound to its past glory. The Memorial Fund was launched in memory of those who perished in the crash and has helped countless athletes reach their skating and academic goals. We also continue to honor “100 contributors” — 10 in each issue of 2021 — who have dedicated their time, talents and passion at the grass roots level to make the sport fun and fulfilling for others. The 10 people featured in the May issue are Tom Collins, Carolyn Brown, Judy Cobb, Eric Jurasin, Jennifer McMahon, Elizabeth Metzger, Carmina Monaco, Alysssa Reder-Judnick, Judy Reiner and Christy Williams. Enjoy!
