The U.S. Junior National Team is back on the road for the third stop of the ISU Junior Grand Prix Series Sept. 3-6 in Varese, Italy.
The United States will send two representatives each in the men's, women's and ice dance disciplines. Pairs will not be contested at this event.
In the women's event, Logan Higase-Chen and Annika Chao are no strangers to the Junior Grand Prix Series.
Higase-Chen will make her season debut in Italy. This will be her third year competing in the Junior Grand Prix Series. Last season, the 2024 U.S. junior champion earned a top-10 finish at Junior Grand Prix Thailand.
Chao, who is also competing in the Junior Grand Prix Series for the third straight year, enters JGP Italy having already earned a spot on the podium at an international event after capturing silver in the junior event at 2025 Cranberry Cup International.
Aleksandr Fegan and Nicholas Brooks will skate for the stars and stripes in the men's event.
Fegan, the reigning U.S. junior men’s silver medalist, returns for his third consecutive Junior Grand Prix Series campaign hoping to clinch his first medal. In 2023, he finished just off the podium in fourth place at Junior Grand Prix Armenia.
Brooks will make his Junior Grand Prix debut but comes in with international experience, having previously won two international medals. In 2023, he earned silver at the Kings Cup International, and in 2024, he took bronze at the Trophy Metropole Nice Côte d'Azur.
Ice dancers Jasmine Robertson and Chase Rohner will compete on the Junior Grand Prix circuit for the second time this season. Just two weekends ago, the duo – who teamed up in January 2025 – secured bronze at Junior Grand Prix Latvia in their series debut.
Competing in the Junior Grand Prix Series for the second straight weekend, Annelise Stapert and Maxim Korotcov are coming off a fifth-place finish at JGP Turkey.
Competition begins Thursday with the rhythm dance and men's short program followed by the women's short program and free dance on Friday. The final medals of the competition will be awarded following the men's and women's free skates on Saturday.
Fans can watch all the action from JGP Latvia, as well as the entire Junior Grand Prix Series, live on the ISU YouTube channel.
The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, which started in 1997, consists of seven international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Each athlete is eligible to score points in two of the seven scheduled events (pairs can compete in two of four designated events). The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2025, taking place Dec. 4-7 in Nagoya, Japan.
