Eighty-five teams from across the country are set to take the ice in Allen, Texas, next week for 2025 National Theatre on Ice.
Taking place June 23-28 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center, teams of eight to 28 skaters will compete for theatrical skating titles across nine divisions: preliminary, intermediate, juvenile, novice, junior, senior, open, adult and adaptive.
Harmony Theatre Company of Michigan looks to continue their historic run and add to their legacy as the most decorated senior team in the event’s history with an eighth title.
In the junior event, Act 1 of Boston enters as the reigning champions and will compete to stand on top of the podium for a fifth consecutive year. Their home club – The Skating Club of Boston – also looks to defend titles in the novice and intermediate divisions.
A team on the rise, the Space Coast Hurricanes will vie for back-to-back wins in the juvenile and open categories.
Competition consists of two programs: a choreographic exercise and free performance. Teams are evaluated on technical elements as well as presentation with a specific emphasis on originality, costuming, artistry and musicality. Scores from both segments are combined for a total score.
This marks the first time that National Theatre On Ice will be held in the state of Texas. The Dallas Figure Skating Club will serve as the host club for this event.
Theatre On Ice (TOI) is a form of competitive figure skating that combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theatre and dance. TOI brings skaters together to tell a story and gives them the chance to be a part of a team, compete in domestic and international competitions and make new friends.
