We look forward to working with you throughout the 2020 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships. In this site has important information that will help you in covering the event. The 2020 Media Information Book is accessible here. The book includes competitor information, practice groups, a detailed event schedule (subject to change), facts about the U.S. Championships, a list of special events and more.

All of this information can also be found here on this page. This site will be updated throughout the event and will link to teleconference and press conference videos, quick quotes, and more. Please do not share this link.

Entering Greensboro Coliseum Complex
Credentialed media members can access the Coliseum at the north lobby. The on-site credential pick-up location is located inside the lobby. There will be one set of doors for media and one for the general public.  Media can access the facility 90 minutes prior to start of the first practice and at end of night, 120 minutes upon conclusion of the final press conference.
 

Media Workroom
The media workroom is located in Hospitality A. To get there, walk in to North Lobby entrance and straight to the back of lobby and through doors (there will be signage). Come into event level and there will be directional signage leading to media work room.
 

Media seating
Tabled media seating is available in section 116, rows JJ-VV (first five rows).
General media seating is available in section 115, rows SS/TT (the top 2 rows).
 

Photo Positions
Photographers will have positions ice-level and mid-level. Ice-level position will be accessible from the event level. Unless otherwise noted, these positions are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Remote cameras are allowed, but need to be tied off and accompanied by a member of arena staff when no skaters are on the ice. Please see a member of the U.S. Figure Skating communications staff for assistance.

Turn left out of the media room and go down the stairs. There will be chairs near the boards.

Lower-level (42 seats)

Access from concourse level. Turn left out of the media room and walk up the stairs past the tabled seating. Turn right on the concourse and head to section 108/109.

Mid-level (29 seats)

Access from concourse level. Turn left out of the media room and walk up the stairs past the tabled seating. Turn right on the concourse and then take a left up the stairs. At the top of the stairs turn left on the upper concourse and head to section 212.

 

Practice Rink
The practice rink is connected to the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. All official practices are open to the media. Media can only access the practice rink via the concourse level.

To get to the practice rink from media seating (section 116), take a left on the concourse and walk towards section 131. Once to section 131, turn right out of the doors that say "exit to plaza and parking" and enter the main entrance/plaza. Walk through the "Special Event Center" doors and walk down the long hallway. At the end of the hallway, turn right and go down stairs. At the bottom of the stairs turn right into the west wing/Fan Fest area. Inside, turn right to enter the practice rink. The practice rink mixed zone is at the far end of the rink at the end of the bleachers. Media is welcome to sit anywhere on the bleachers and photo positions are marked with stickers.

All credentialed media need official event accreditation to access the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.

Transportation to Greensboro Coliseum
Media may request a parking pass for the event. Parking passes are first come, first served. Please email Michael Terry to request a pass. Public parking is available to the media for $10 per day (price may increase later in the week) or $40 for the week. Weekend parking passes are already available on the ticketing website (ncskate2020.com). If you plan to use a ride sharing service to get to the venue, please utilize the Uber at the ACC Hall of Champions entrance located off Gate City Boulevard. Credentialed members of the media will also be allowed to ride the event shuttle from the Sheraton, Holiday Inn and DoubleTree.

Route (Sheraton and Holiday Inn): Sheraton -> Holiday Inn -> Coliseum North Entrance -> Coliseum Southeast Corner -> Sheraton
Route (DoubleTree): DoubleTree -> Coliseum North Entrance -> Coliseum Southeast Corner -> DoubleTree
Frequency: Every 30 minutes (Depart Sheraton/Holiday Inn/DoubleTree on :00/:30 and Coliseum at :15/:45)
First Shuttle: First shuttle departs hotel one hour prior to the start of first practice

Media Hospitality
Drinks and light meals will be provided Thursday through Sunday. A complete schedule will be available on-site.
 

Venues
All events and practices will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.
 

Internet
WiFi will be available at Greensboro Coliseum Complex (in press room and in media seating). Instructions on how to access the network will be available onsite. Additionally, the photography work area will have hard line internet access. Photographers wishing to use the hard-line internet access should bring their own ethernet cord.
 

Media availability
Athletes (by request) will be asked to be available to the media after their official practices and on the day between competition (if applicable). As always, athletes will go through the mixed zone after both competitive performances and the top three from each segment of competition (championship-level only) will be available in a press conference. All additional interview requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Please see a member of the U.S. Figure Skating communications staff to make a request.
 

TV cameras: Local TV stations are invited to shoot all practices in all venues. Cameras may not shoot championship-level competition. Cameras are welcome to shoot interviews in the mixed zone and press conference areas. Please note: no lights may be used while athletes are on the ice. See a member of the U.S. Figure Skating communications staff for designated filming areas. Also, please note the difference between practices and warm-ups. All championship level warm-ups are closed to non-right holder camera, unless specific permission is given. If you have questions, please see a member of the U.S. Figure Skating communications staff.
 

Press conference schedule
Press conferences will take place after all championship-level competition segments, featuring the top three finishers after the short program and rhythm dance, and the gold, silver and bronze medalists after the free skate and free dance. All press conferences will take place in the press conference room in the Odeon Theater and will be available on YouTube. Junior athletes will be available upon request.

 

Covering the event
The U.S. Figure Skating communications staff can assist media in covering the event. Results will be available online, but will also be available onsite. For results from 2015 U.S. Championships, click here. For protocols from 2011 U.S. Championships, please contact a member of the U.S. Figure Skating communications staff.

 

B-roll is available upon request (please contact mterry@usfigureskating.org). Media should consult U.S. Figure Skating’s media credential guidelines for video usage policies.

 

Interview requests should be made using the Interview Request Form (available on the results table). Please give completed form to a member of the U.S. Figure Skating communications staff. Additionally, an allocated interview space is available in the media room for one-on-one interviews.
