Seven Team USA athletes will represent the stars and stripes at Cup of China – the sixth and final ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series event of the 2024-25 season – Nov. 22-24 in Chongqing, China.
Looking to qualify for her first ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final is Amber Glenn. The 2024 U.S. champion heads to China undefeated thus far on the season, winning her first-ever Grand Prix gold at Grand Prix de France earlier this month. In France, Glenn broke the record for the highest short program score ever by a U.S. woman.
Ice dancers Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko will also compete for a spot at the Grand Prix Final in Grenoble, France. At their first Grand Prix of the season at NHK Trophy, the two-time Four Continents bronze medalists earned silver, their best result at a Grand Prix.
Caroline Green and Michael Parsons will also compete in their second Grand Prix of the season. The ice dance team out of Canton, Michigan, finished just off the podium in fourth at NHK Trophy earlier this month. They started their season with a silver at Trophy Metropole Nice Cote d'Azur.
Rounding out the U.S. delegation in the pairs event will be Katie McBeath and Daniil Parkman. The duo who began their partnership in May 2023 made their Grand Prix debut on home soil at Skate America last month, finishing seventh.
The two-day competition begins Friday with the rhythm dance and the women’s, men’s and pairs short programs. Medals will be awarded on Saturday in all four disciplines following the conclusion of the free dance and women’s, men’s and pairs free skates.
Every skater will be streamed live on Peacock with all events available for 72 hours following their conclusion. Fans can also catch a recap show on NBC at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 24. Find the full broadcast schedule on usfigureskatingfanzone.com and the Peacock streaming schedule on peacocktv.com/skating.
The Grand Prix Series, which started in 1995, consists of six international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Each athlete or team is eligible to score points in up to two of the six scheduled events. The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the 2024 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, set for Dec. 5-8 in Grenoble, France.
