World bronze medalists and Olympians Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik are featured on the cover. This electric ice dance team is thriving and figures to continue winning medals for years to come. Their partnership, however, didn't seem likely a few years ago as Zingas faced a crossroad after her singles career and was brand new to ice dance, while Kolesnik and his family dealt with the somber reality of the war in Ukraine.
High school junior Weyna Chen earned the overall Parade of Champions title at the 2026 National Showcase in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. The California native was one of 749 skaters who took part in the weeklong event at the South Suburban Sports Complex in early August. We were there and talked to all the parade winners at the event. Â This issue also includes a look back at National Theatre on Ice, the Excel Final and Festival and the U.S. Collegiate Championships.
Synchro9 was officially added to the 2030 Olympic Winter Games in the French Alps over the summer. We talked to U.S. leadership about what to expect during this monumental quadrennium and to the top synchronized skating coaches in the country about what it means to them and the sport.
Saatva Skate America is just around the corner. Two-time Olympian Jason Brown is seeking redemption after finishing on a sour note at the 2026 U.S. Championships. Brown will be joined by three-time and reigning World champion Ilia Malinin in Everett, Washington. Tickets are on sale now for this star-studded event.
Alice Cook, a 1976 Olympian in pairs and trailblazing sports reporter in Boston for decades, continues to inspire as she meets the challenges of having ALS, a neurodegenerative disease that affects the parts of the brain controlling speech and swallowing. In recent years she ran the Boston Marathon twice; and earlier this year Cook attended the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Olympic Team at the U.S. Championships in St. Louis, where she reunited and inspired her Games teammates.
