ESPN Classic Figure Skating Marathon This Weekend

(10/13/06) - ESPN Classic will highlight some of figure skating's greatest moments with a seven-hour marathon of classic skating highlights on Oct. 14, beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern. The coverage will kick off the ABC/ESPN figure skating television season, as ABC coverage begins Sunday, Oct. 15, with a live broadcast of the 2006 U.S. Figure Skating Campbell's Cup.

The ESPN Classic marathon will include performances from six separate competitions, focusing on some of the best moments in those events.

Saturday, Oct. 14

  • 1-2 p.m.: 1988 U.S. Championships (featuring Debi Thomas)
  • 2-4 p.m.: 1996 World Championships Men's and Ladies (featuring Todd Eldredge and Michelle Kwan)
  • 4-5 p.m.: 1997 World Championships (featuring Tara Lipinski)
  • 5-6 p.m.: 2005 World Championships (featuring Tatiana Totmianina & Maxim Marinin, Evan Lysacek, Irina Slutskaya, Tanith Belbin & Ben Agosto , and Stephane Lambiel)
  • 6-7 p.m.: 2006 U.S. Championships (featuring Belbin and Agosto, Rena Inoue & John Baldwin, Emily Hughes)
  • 7-8 p.m.: 2006 World Championships (featuring Kimmie Meissner, Evan Lysacek, Brian Joubert and Marie France Dubreuil & Patrice Lauzon)
