(8/9/06) - On Friday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. PST the Big Four Ticket Package to the 2007 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Spokane, Wash., Jan. 21-28, goes on sale to the public. The package includes one ticket to each of the event's most popular senior-level events: the pairs free skate and the ice dancing free dance on Friday, Jan. 26, and the ladies and men's free skates on Saturday, Jan. 27.
Expected to compete in the event are 2006 Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen, 2006 World champion Kimmie Meissner, three-time U.S. champion Johnny Weir, two-time World bronze medalist Evan Lysacek, two-time U.S. pairs champions Rena Inoue and John Baldwin, and 2006 Olympic ice dancing silver medalists Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto. The Big Four Ticket Package, at just $298, affords fans the opportunity to watch all of the country's top figure skaters battle it out for gold, silver and bronze at the 88th annual U.S. Championships, which will be broadcast on ABC and ESPN2.
Ticket sales for the 2007 U.S. Championships, to take place at the Spokane Arena and the Spokane Convention Center, are on track to break all previous records, including those set by Olympic-year U.S. Championships. Based on current ticket sales, if the event were held today the attendance would top 90,000 spectators. With five months remaining before the event, Spokane is on track to break the attendance record, set in 2002 in Los Angeles, Calif., of 125,345 spectators.
The local organizing committee for the 2007 U.S. Championships also hosted 2002 Smart Ones Skate America, an event with record-setting attendance of more than 28,500 throughout the four-day event.
Fans purchasing the Big Four Ticket Package will receive the same seat for all four events. Tickets can be purchased by calling toll free 866.USA.2007 or by visiting www.spokane2007.com or the Spokane Arena box office. Orders will be date and time stamped once received, so the earlier the order is placed, the better the seat.
Tickets to the Exhibitions of Champions on Sunday, Jan. 28, have sold out. The Big Four Ticket Packages are also expected to sell out, so fans are encouraged to act fast.
