Making the decision to support U.S. Figure Skating is the first step. After that, there is an infinite number of ways you can help further the organization's mission. For instance, do you have available assets that you would like to donate immediately? Would you prefer to donate after your lifetime? How much flexibility would you like to have in making your gift? Your answers to these questions will help decide which option is best for you: giving today or giving tomorrow.

Give Today: Gifts
The best way to make an immediate impact on U.S. Figure Skating is to give a gift of any size today. Gifts can consist of cash, stock, property or other assets. This type of giving is simple; all that is required is the transfer of your gift or assets to U.S. Figure Skating and a valuation of the gift for tax deduction purposes. If you are uncomfortable making a donation today, please consider giving tomorrow through a charitable bequest in your will.

Give Tomorrow: Bequests
If you would like to make a gift to U.S. Figure Skating after your lifetime, consider including a charitable bequest to U.S. Figure Skating in your will. Charitable bequests provide several benefits:

  • Bequests are one of the easiest gifts to make; simply add a few lines to your will.
  • As components of wills, bequests are flexible. You may update your bequest at any time.
  • You may specify the use, size, and structure of the bequest.
  • Your estate will receive an estate tax charitable deduction when the bequest is executed.

Memorial Bequests are a wonderful way to leave your legacy or to honor a friend or loved one. A gift in your name or a friend's name will recognize you or that person while supporting U.S. Figure Skating.

Regardless of whether you choose to give today or tomorrow, you have the opportunity to ensure that your support will continue into the future by establishing an endowment.

When an endowed gift is made, the value of the gift is invested with and becomes a part of the U.S. Figure Skating endowment. Annual distributions are made for the purpose you designate. Since the principal remains intact, the endowment will generate support for U.S. Figure Skating into perpetuity.
