2013 International Synchronized Skating Season Begins This Week With Cup of Berlin

(1/17/13) - Two U.S. synchronized skating teams kick off the international season this week at Cup of Berlin in Berlin. California Gold (Artesia, Calif.) and the Hockettes (Ann Arbor, Mich.) are set to compete Jan. 18-19 from Sport Forum Berlin Hohenschonhausen.

California Gold, representing the All Year FSC, are four-time U.S. pewter medalists (2007-09, '11) and placed fourth at this event in 2011. They opened their international season last year with a seventh place finish at 2012 French Cup and placed sixth at the 2012 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships.

Ann Arbor FSC representatives the Hockettes are two-time U.S. junior champions (2005, '07) and won the junior title at this event in 2005. In their most recent international assignment, the Hockettes won bronze at 2011 Spring Cup.

Both teams are also set to compete at the 2013 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships Feb. 27-March 3 in Plymouth, Mich.
