(10/19/12) - The 2013 U.S. Figure Skating qualifying season continues Oct. 19-23, with the Central Pacific, South Atlantic and Southwestern Regional Figure Skating Championships.
More than 1,800 skaters in two disciplines (ladies and men's) will compete in five levels (juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior, senior) at the nine regional championships. The top four skaters in each discipline qualify for one of three sectional championships, which will be held Nov. 8-12. Pairs and ice dance begin their seasons at the sectional championships.
The top four finishers at the sectional championships earn a berth to the 2013 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships set for Jan. 20-27, in Omaha, Neb.
Several members of the 2012-13 U.S. Figure Skating team envelope will compete at regional championships, including 2012 U.S. novice champion Karen Chen (Central Pacific) and 2012 U.S. junior bronze medalist Philip Warren (Southwest Pacific), both of whom have moved up a competitive level this season.
