The Board of Directors took the following actions:

1. APPROVED the adoption of a Memorial Resolution in honor of George T. Yonekura. (15 yes)


WHEREAS, George T. Yonekura, Past President and Honorary Member of U.S. Figure Skating, passed away on Tuesday, the twenty-third day of December, 2008, and will be sorely missed by the figure skating community, and

WHEREAS, by his outstanding service to U.S. Figure Skating as a judge of figure skating since 1962 and, by his diligence, achieved the rank of national referee in 1972. He brought great credit to himself and the organization by having served on numerous committees and held the office of President (1983-86), and the position of World Team Leader (1978 and 1979), and

WHEREAS, his love and devotion for the sport was so apparent to everyone involved in figure skating. He was a leader and outstanding member of the community. He was instrumental in helping host the 1992 World Figure Skating Championships in Oakland, Calif. He was a gold test and junior competition judge and a national referee and served as a board member, vice president and president of the St. Moritz Ice Skating Club.

NOW, THEREFORE, let it be RESOLVED, that this Memorial Resolution be unanimously adopted and spread upon the records of U.S. Figure Skating, and be it further resolved that the Secretary be instructed to send a duly certified copy of this resolution to his daughter Margaret Lynn Yonekura.
