U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame Announces 2009 Nominees
(10/31/08) - U.S. Hall of Fame Chair Dede Disbrow announced today the official nominations for the 2009 U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame ballot. The 2009 nominees represent an elite group of individuals who have met the stringent criteria established by the selection committee. The nominees are:
Category A Outstanding Competitors
Sonya Klopfer Dunfield
Jenni Meno and Todd Sand
Dorothyann Nelson and Pieter Kollen (deceased)
Walter Red Bainbridge
Kristin Fortune and Dennis Sveum
Renee Roca and Gorsha Sur
Susan Wynne and Joseph Druar
Category B Outstanding Candidates Providing a Significant Impact on the Sport in a Non-athletic Role
Category C Outstanding Candidates with a Creative Impact: Theatrical Skaters, Coaches, Choreographers, Impresarios or Costume Designers
Category D Golden; Outstanding Candidates from Categories A, B or C Prior to 1939/World War II
Marjorie Parker Smith and Joseph Savage (deceased)
Announcements about the Class of 2009 will be issued following the close of the election process on Nov. 10 and verification of results by the professional accounting firm, Brunberg Blatt and Company, Inc. The Class of 2009 will be inducted Jan. 23 at the 2009 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
