Michael Weiss Foundation Show To Raise Money for Rising Stars

(9/5/06) - Tickets are still available for this Saturday's show benefiting the Michael Weiss Foundation. Todd Eldredge, Rena Inoue & John Baldwin, Emily Hughes, and Naomi Lang and Peter Tchernyshev are just a few of the skating stars scheduled to perform Sept. 9 at Skatequest in Reston, Va. The show begins at 2:30 p.m., with a silent auction beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The mission of the Michael Weiss Foundation is to provide Olympic-eligible U.S. figure skaters with financial support to assist in all facets of training and competition, with an emphasis on continuing their education. The foundation is committed to providing funds to young athletes who show exceptional potential.

Last December, three-time U.S. champion Michael Weiss and the Michael Weiss Foundation awarded $28,000 in scholarships to worthy up-and-coming-skaters. Previous recipients of foundation awards include Christine Zukowski (who will also be performing Saturday), Kendra Moyle & Andy Seitz, Madison Hubbell & Keiffer Hubbell, and Daisuke Murakami.

Other skaters scheduled to performe include Morgan Matthews & Maxim Zavozin, Kyoka Ina and John Zimmerman, Dan Hollander, Silvia Fontana, and of course, Weiss himself.
