Matt Savoie Appointed Athlete Representative to ISU Technical Committee
(7/21/06) - At the International Skating Union (ISU) Council meetings last month in Budapest, Hungary, 2006 U.S. Olympian Matt Savoie was appointed to the singles and pairs skating technical committee as the athlete representative. It is his first position with the ISU.
Savoie placed seventh at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games, his best major international finish. He is a three-time U.S. bronze medalist and three-time U.S. World Team member. Savoie has not extinguished the possibility of returning to competitive skating, but he is currently attending law school at Cornell University.
In a separate decision, the ISU Council postponed the allotment of pending 2008 and 2009 ISU championship events until the next meetings take place Sept. 15-17, 2006.
