U.S. Announces Roster for 2003 Triglav Trophy

The USFSA has announced the roster of 11 athletes that will be attending the 2003 Triglav Trophy International Figure Skating Competition in Jesenice, Slovenia, April 10-13. The Triglav Trophy, which features novice and junior level competitors, is the final international event for U.S. skaters in the 2002-03 season. The U.S. will be one of 25 nations competing at this event.

In the novice ladies division, 2003 U.S. novice champion Kimberly Meissner (Bel Air, Md.) will be joined by novice silver medalist Katy Taylor (Houston, Texas/Sugarland, Texas) and novice bronze medalist Jessica Houston (Cambridge, Mass./Boston, Mass.) All three ladies are making their debut at the Triglav Trophy.

In the junior ladies division, Jane Bugaeva (Raleigh, N.C.) is the only entry for the U.S. Following a fifth placed finish at the 2003 State Farm U.S. Championships as a junior, Bugaeva is making her international debut for the U.S.

In the junior men's division, the U.S. will be represented by 2003 U.S. junior silver medalist Jordan Brauninger(Ft. Mitchell, Ky./Crescent Springs, Ky.). Also competing are Christopher Toland (San Francisco, Calif./El Segundo, Calif.) and Jason Wong (Lexington, Mass./Boston, Mass.) who finished fourth and fifth respectively at the 2003 State Farm U.S. Championships in Dallas.

In the junior pairs competition, 2003 U.S. junior pairs champions Amy Howerton (Rockwall, Texas)& Steven Pottenger (Coppell, Texas) return for their second straight Triglav Trophy appearance. Last season the duo claimed the silver medal at the event. Joining the duo are the 2003 U.S. novice champions Sydney Schmidt & Chris Pottenger (Coppell, Texas/Dallas, Texas). Both teams are coached by David Kirby.
