Icemen Programs

Overview
One of U.S. Figure Skating's newest programs, the Icemen Network and the Icemen Sectional Series, serve as membership retention and networking tools, for male skaters at the preliminary level and above. These programs were developed to help unify and encourage the male members of U.S. Figure Skating and continue their involvement in skating through a sense of peer support and networking opportunities.
2014 ICEMEN NETWORK - A SOCIAL NETWORK
The Icemen Network is a program that began during the 2011-12 season and is for male skaters ages 10 and older, at the preliminary level and above. This network gives male skaters the opportunity to ask some of U.S. Figure Skating's elite male athletes questions they have often wondered about; for example, how they train, their biggest obstacles, how they dealt with pressure at school or when they began skating.

The Icemen Network is a way for males to learn more about what to expect in their skating career and provide them with an opportunity to build a peer communication network through newsletters, conference calls and other media.

Participants in the Icemen Network are sent specific topics for discussion and are asked to submit questions regarding selected topics prior to each scheduled conference call. The calls include hosted discussions with current and former Team USA male athletes who share their experiences in skating. The elite male athletes serving as guest speakers select the questions to answer and discuss on the call.

The 2012 Icemen Network conference calls included emcee Mark Ladwig and guest speakers Ben Agosto, Rockne Brubaker, John Coughlin, Armin Mahbanoozadeh, Colin McManus, Ross Miner, Ryan Bradley Douglas Razzano, Charlie White, Jason Brown, Evan Bates, Chris Knierim and Jimmie Santee.

Each conference call features a different topic and covers a variety of subjects. The Icemen Network conference calls are in a listen-only mode of discussion for participants.

2014 ICEMEN SECTIONAL SERIES - A COMPETITION SERIES
The Icemen Sectional Series is an expansion of the Icemen Network that began in 2012. This competition series provides an avenue for male skaters at the no test, pre-preliminary, preliminary and pre-juvenile levels to compete in free skate events at the designated 2014 Icemen Sectional Series competitions and accumulate points based on placement.

The points are then tracked by U.S. Figure Skating and displayed on this page so all participants can view the overall series point standings. Each section will have a series of six Icemen Sectional Series competitions where skaters can earn placement points. Participants are allowed to compete in as many competitions as they wish, but only their top two scores from the designated Icemen Sectional Series competitions will count toward their point accumulation in the Icemen Sectional Series.

The goal of the Icemen Sectional Series program is to create a fun, nationwide competitive program for male figure skaters, allowing them to expand their competitive opportunities while networking and competing against other male skaters at their level. The series has been developed to connect and unify male skaters, increase entries by male skaters in competitions and help male skaters widen their competitive experience against other male skaters at their level.
