As the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States, U.S. Figure Skating's mission is to provide programs to encourage participation and achievement in the sport of figure skating and also to provide the best possible experience for all participants.

U.S. Figure Skating is a membership-based organization serving more than 700 full, collegiate and school-affiliated clubs and more than 900 registered Basic Skills programs nationwide. For more information about U.S. Figure Skating, download the fact sheet (PDF).

The best way to be a part of U.S. Figure Skating is to be a member of a U.S. Figure Skating-affiliated club. All local clubs and programs set their own membership dues and will submit payment to U.S. Figure Skating making them both members of the local association/program and U.S. Figure Skating. For more information on club/member dues and membership rules, please refer to the current U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook (Ruleboook order form [PDF]) or inquire with your local club.

The membership fee to join U.S. Figure Skating for the 2008-09 skating season is $40 for the first full family member and $15 for each subsequent member in the same household when joining through a club. Check with your local club for all membership fees, benefits and services. Full individual membership is $85.

There are many benefits to joining a club. Club programs and services are designed to meet the specific needs of its membership. Some of the benefits and services of clubs include:

Members shall be required to abide by and conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the bylaws, official rules, policies, procedures, code of conduct and principals of ethical behavior of the local club and U.S. Figure Skating.
