Injury Prevention

Your Medical Registry Counts!

Did you know that each year when skaters register for competitions using U.S. Figure Skating's online event registration system the system requests the completion of a short injury and illness survey?

This survey is your medical registry, and the information you provide each year plays a very important role in helping sports medicine and science practitioners develop research and interventions to reduce and prevent injury in figure skaters.

So, the next time you're in a hurry to complete your survey, remember:

Your medical registry counts!

Dealing with Injury

Check this space for articles that address the psychological aspect of injury, including strategies on how to stay motivated and in shape.

We appreciate your patience while we continue to extend your resources.

One of U.S. Figure Skating's top sports medicine and science initiatives is to reduce the rate of injury across all figure skating disciplines and competitive levels. This is no small task given the nature of our sport, but there are things we can do to support the effort.

Off Ice
Great athletes make great skaters! Participate in S.T.A.R.S. (Skater Talent Identification and Recognition System) to prevent injury by keeping your athleticism curve ahead of your skills curve. Click here to learn more about S.T.A.R.S.
