Developmental Internationals

Skaters are selected and invited by the U.S. Figure Skating Athlete Development Committee to Developmental International competitions as follows:
    • Junior- and senior-level skaters identified by the U.S. Figure Skating International Committee Management Subcommittee (ICMS). This can include sectional competitors.
    • Novice-level athletes placing 1-12 at the most recent U.S. Figure Skating Championships
    • Intermediate-level athletes placing 1-3 at the most recent U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships
    • Selection based on protocol; priority given to those who competed at either the most recent U.S. Figure Skating Championships or U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships
    • Skaters who have previously been on the Team USA are not eligible to participate, the exceptions being pairs and ice dancing

  • Recommendation is to select up to four events each season. Skaters will be asked for their preference of events but might not receive their first choice. Spots are limited.
  • Skaters will pay their own expenses to participate.
  • Skaters who are selected, invited and choose to participate will be considered members of the Developmental International Team for U.S. Figure Skating. (They are not considered members of Team USA.)
  • U.S. Figure Skating will pay expenses for one to two team leaders for each event.
  • Competitions used can be on the ISU calendar provided they are not being used by the International Committee.
  • U.S. skaters not selected for these teams cannot compete in these competitions with the exception of nonqualifying competitions in Canada and Mexico.
  • Developmental International Team members may receive a Developmental International Team sweatshirt, fleece pullover or fleece jacket if budget allows. These jackets may not say "Team USA" but can have "Developmental International Team" or a U.S. flag embroidered on the back, with the U.S. Figure Skating logo on the front.
